हमारी आवश्यकता
देह के तादात्म्य से ही देह का अभिमान उत्पन्न होता है और देह के अभिमान से ममता और कामनाओं का जन्म होता है । देहाभिमान का परिणाम क्या है - ममता और कामना । इनकी निवृति कैसे होगी? जब यह विचार करके देखें कि भाई, सृष्टि एक इकाई है और इसी के अन्तर्गत मिला हुआ शरीर है, मिली हुई वस्तु है, मिली हुई योग्यता है । तो सृष्टि कहो, चाहे वस्तु, योग्यता, सामर्थ्य कहो, क्या फर्क पड़ता है ।
हमसे गलती क्या होती है कि यह सृष्टि है, इस बात को भूल जाते हैं और इसके अतर्गत अपनी सृष्टि अलग बनाते हैं, मैं अमुक हूँ, मेरा यह है । जहाँ 'मैं' है और 'मेरा यह है' वहाँ अनेक प्रकार की कामना पैदा होती है । कामना पैदा होने से पूर्ति-अपूर्ति का सुख-दुःख पैदा होता है । सुख-दुःख के द्वारा ही देहाभिमान पुष्ट होता है । तो अगर हमारे सामने देहाभिमान-रहित होने का प्रश्न है तो आप सोचिए ।

Our urgent need

Identification with the body alone gives rise to vanity of the body which in its turn breeds the sense and feeling of ‘me’, ‘mine’ and desires. What is the result of vanity of the body – the sentiments of ‘me-mine’ and desire? How can one get rid of these? Let us examine the matter in a wider perspective. Consider perceptually the creation as a unity and contained within it alone is the allotted body, the object and the ability. Either call it creation or object, ability, power what difference is there?
The error we lapse into it is that of forgetting that the creation is an entity on its own and make a separate personal world of our own within it. Whereas the natural creation is a monolithic unity of oneness. But we fabricate a self-image within it – I am so-and-so, this belongs to me, this is mine. Desire of many kinds proliferates in greater number where there is ego, ‘I’ and ‘this is mine’. Mushrooming desires precipitate situations of joy and sorrow born of their fulfillment or non-fulfillment. Feeling of joy and sorrow alone strengthen identity with and conceit of the body. So we have to ponder over the consequential situation as a spiritual aspirant seeking release from vanity of the body.
