जीवन का सत्य
देखिए जर्मन बर्बाद हुआ और हिन्दुस्तान आजाद हुआ। जर्मन लोगों ने आठ-आठ घण्टे, दस-दस घण्टे, बारह-बारह घण्टे काम किया और वहाँ के कारखानों में लाखों का फायदा हुआ और हिन्दुस्तान के लोगों ने बोनस माँगना शुरू कर दिया । काम करना कम कर दिया और लाखों का नुकसान हुआ । जो काम तुम्हें मिला है, तुम अपने काम को ठीक-ठीक ईमानदारी से पूरा कर दो ।
तुम संसार के ठेकेदार नहीं हो । ज्यादा तो तुम कर ही नहीं सकते । आठ घण्टे काम करते हैं तो उसके बाद काम करने की तबियत ही नहीं होती । अभी अमेरिका से एक आदमी आया तो उसने कहा कि अमेरिका में सप्ताह में दो दिन की छुट्टी होती है लेकिन वहाँ आठ घण्टे काम करते हैं । इस प्रकार वे सप्ताह में चालीस घण्टे काम करते हैं और हिन्दुस्तान में सप्ताह में 25 घण्टे काम करते हैं । यहाँ एक दिन की छुट्टी होती है तब भी 25 घण्टे से ज्यादा काम करते ही नहीं । यह काम करने की पद्धति में अन्तर है ।
क्रियात्मक सेवा निकटवर्ती प्रियजनों की करो और भावात्मक सेवा सारे संसार की करो । किसी का बुरा मत चाहो यह भावात्मक सेवा हो गई और यथाशक्ति किसी की मदद कर दो यह क्रियात्मक सेवा हो गई । किसी को बुरा न समझो, यह भावात्मक सेवा हो गई । बुराई न करना, यह क्रियात्मक सेवा हो गई । बुरा न चाहना, यह भावात्मक सेवा हो गई ।

Look! Germany was dismantled during the war but Hindustan emerged a free country. The Germans performed the schedule of ten to twelve hours of work during eight hours only and the factories there gained lacs of benefit of deutschmark whereas the Indians began demanding bonus. They minimized working and there was a loss of lacs of currency. Whatever the job allotted to you, perform it methodically, honestly to the point of completion.
You are not in the role of a managing contractor of the world. In no case can you do more than your allotted schedule. You don’t have disposition to work after doing the work for eight hours. Recently, a man coming from America reported that there were two days of leave a week there but work-schedule a day was of eight hours. Thus they work for forty hours a week there. But here in India we work worth only twenty-five hours a week. Here, we have only a day’s leave; nevertheless we don’t work for more than twenty-five hours in any case. This difference is because of method of working.
Render active service to adjacent near and dear ones and empathetic service to the whole world. Don’t wish ill of anyone – this is an empathetic service and help someone as much as you can - this is active service. It is active service to help anyone according to one’s capacity. Not to think of anyone as evil is a service of empathy of emotion. Refusing to commit evil amounts to active service. Not to wish ill of anyone amounts to empathetic service.
